Lida Loop delivered exactly what the race is known for - high speeds, hard attacks and technical trails that never let you relax. Across 65 kilometers of roots, rock slabs and rough terrain at Lida Outdoor Recreation Area outside Stockholm, Serneke Allebike celebrated a big day as Edvin Elofsson claimed victory in the men's elite race.
The pace was high straight from the start and already during the opening loop the field began to split apart in the technical sections. When the lead group broke up over the rock slabs, Edvin temporarily lost a few positions, but quickly fought his way back into contention.
Heading into the second loop, the plan had been clear - make the race hard in the most technical sections. And the longer the race went on, the more it started to play into Edvin’s hands.
Together with Lucas Eriksson, Axel Lindh and Paul Greijus, he kept the pace high at the front, but as the race entered the third and final loop, the decisive move came.
With plenty of trail still left to race, Edvin raised the pace once again and broke away solo.
Behind him, the chasers were pushing hard, but the gap kept growing. In the end, Edvin secured the victory after an impressive solo ride all the way to the finish line.
